DISTRICT TO ANNOUNCE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION GRANT TO EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS PROGRAM
PHILADELPHIA – Today, Tuesday, December 6, Dr. William R. Hite, Superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia, will announce a $236,000 grant annually awarded to the District’s Educational Options Program (EOP) for five years. EOP allows students and adults over the age of 17 to earn credits toward a high school diploma, and is offered at four sites across the District.
The Counseling and Access for Postsecondary Success (CAPS) Initiative grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education is designed to provide the District the necessary resources to deliver lessons and activities aimed at preparing EOP students for postsecondary education enrollment, including counselors and professional development trainings.
Partner organizations to be represented at the event include the Community College of Philadelphia; the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Adult Education; Temple University; PNC Bank; PhillyGoes2College; and Philadelphia Vet Center.
