SCHOOL REFORM COMMISSION RELEASES PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF SUPERINTENDENT HITE
PHILADELPHIA—Today, the School Reform Commission (SRC) of The School District of Philadelphia announced the completion of the Superintendent’s Performance Evaluation for the 2015-16 school year for Superintendent William R. Hite Jr.
“The 2015-2016 school year saw tremendous uncertainty due to a nine month budget stalemate. Under Dr. Hite’s leadership The School District of Philadelphia not only weathered the budget storm but came out in a stronger position,” said SRC Chair Joyce Wilkerson.
“The School District continues to make strides as Dr. Hite unveiled a 5-year $440 million investment plan that will touch every one of our schools. Even in an area where the District needed to improve, filling classes with substitute teachers, Dr. Hite saw a problem, made it a priority and has worked to solve it. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Hite and the SRC on moving forward on his vision to create great schools close to where children live,” added Wilkerson.
Last year the SRC extended Dr. Hite’s original contract through Aug. 31, 2022. When the SRC extended Dr. Hite’s contract it amended the performance compensation provision. The Superintendent’s current salary will remain unchanged. Future salary increases would occur at the same time and percentage as those given to teachers.
